We’ve sold Jonathan Chamberlain’s Chinese Gods into French, for publication next year by Éditions GOPE. Like us, they publish books about Asia, and their forthcoming titles include a translation of The World of Suzie Wong. So if you’d like to learn about Lei Kung and Lu Pan in the language of love, look out for Les Dieus Chinoises in your nearest French bookshop sometime in 2011.

That’s good news! Editions GOPE has just agreed to translate Lovers and Strangers Revisited (MPH 2008). It’s a collection of 17 short stories set in Malaysia that have been published 78 times in 11 countries (most recently in Hong Kong http://www.asiancha.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=697&Itemid=257 ), taught in several universities and private colleges, and won the 2009 Popular-The Star Readers Choice Awards.

I’m now in the process of revising all of the stories for Editions GOPE and even considering using their change in title to Three Faces of Malaysia. Perhaps Blacksmith Books would be interested to bring out an English version in Hong Kong? Once I’m through revising the stories, I’ll check with MPH to see if some kind of an arrangement can be made. I’ll check with David Magliocco, too. Since you have dealings with him, perhaps he can help shepherd this through.
